Grove Funeral HomeMichael Steven Rubeck, 75, of Hancock, MD, passed away at his home on January 23, 2026.
Born September 6, 1950, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of Helga Rubeck and the late Clyde Rubeck.
Michael was a 1968 graduate of South Hagerstown High School. He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps after serving in Vietnam. After his military service he became an electrician and eventually retired from Frostburg State University in 2010.
He attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Hagerstown, MD.
Michael will always be remembered for his great sense of humor, contagious laugh, and a personality that could light up a room. He was a beloved friend, brother, son, and father who was hardworking, determined and always generous with his time and spirit. Michael had a love of the outdoors, hunting, camping, and was forever dreaming of yet another trip to the Rocky Mountains with his son.
He is survived by his son, Joshua Rubeck from Pocatello, ID, his mother, Helga Rubeck of Hagerstown, MD and his sister, Carmen Dickerson Highland from Jacksonville, NC.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Connie DeShong Rubeck and the late brother-in-law, Jerry Dickerson.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., at Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate), under Honor and Memorial Donation or National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation (NPCF).
