A beloved husband, devoted son, and cherished friend, Michael, known to family and friends as "Jermaine" was born on February 19, 1973, in Pell City, Alabama, to Teresa Evans Sanders and David Sanders. Jermaine's journey in life was a tapestry woven with faith, family, and unwavering dedication. He embraced the teachings of the First Missionary Baptist Church in his youth and later stood shoulder to shoulder with his wife, worshiping at St. Mark Church of God in Christ. A proud graduate of Pell City High School's Class of 1993, he poured his heart into his work as a cook, leaving an indelible mark on many esteemed dining establishments, where he transformed simple ingredients into culinary delights. In his younger years, Jermaine was known as "Sandman". Those blessed to know Jermaine were greeted by his infectious laughter and vibrant spirit. His love for music filled the air, and his enthusiastic support of The Alabama Crimson Tide turned every game day into a celebration. And on his luckiest day, he would try pressing his luck on the slot machines, hoping for the "BIG WIN". Jermaine had a unique ability to brighten even the cloudiest days with his quick wit and humor. He cherished his time with family, especially his younger brother D'Andre and his nephew Justin, whom he adored as sons. As time winds its course, we look ahead to a future where Jermaine's spirit transcends this earthly realm, as he embarks on his journey towards eternal peace. On Tuesday evening, August 26, 2025, Michael "Jermaine" Sanders traded labor for rest when he peacefully answered the Master's call while in the care of UAB St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama surrounded by his beloved family. As he entered the heavenly realm, he was greeted by his father David Sanders, brother, Adam Sanders, and nephew, Don Andre Sanders, Jr. As we hold his memories close, Jermaine leaves behind his cherished wife, Lakoshia Sanders; son, Michael Rashawn Sanders, Jr.; mother, Teresa Faye Sanders; brothers, Don Andre Sanders and D'Andre Sanders; sister, Candace (Justin) Turner; aunts, Carolyn Britt and Patricia Carter; uncles, W.D. (Brenda) Evans and Lonnie Sanders, Jr.; great-aunt, Georgia Laura Mitchell. He will also be missed by his niece, Londyn Turner; nephews, Adam Sanders, Jr., David Sanders, and Justin Turner, Jr.; bonus children, Kaden McKenzie and Kaseptyana (Sidney) Cuerenton; and he was Paw-Paw to Harmony Cuerenton; special cousins, Freida Sanders, Vashe Sanders, Maurice Moten, and Angie Evans Stevenson; along with multitude of cousins, extended family, and cherished friends, all of whom carry a piece of Michael's vibrant spirit in their hearts. In this time of reflection, let us come together to share stories, laughter, and love that Jermaine so generously gave to each of us. His legacy will live on in our hearts and memories-a reminder of the joy he brought to our lives. As we bid farewell, let us hold fast to the light that Jermaine shared with all. May he rest in eternal peace, enveloped in the love of the family and friends who will forever carry his spirit with them.
