Michael Selwyn

Michael Selwyn, 81, of Jackson, NJ, formerly of Orient Point, Long Island, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
Born on January 20, 1944, in Bratislava, Slovakia (formerly Czechoslovakia), Michael was the beloved son of Valerie (née Krcha) and Frank Schweidler-Selwyn. He moved to the United States at the age of three, and was raised in the Richmond Hill neighborhood of Queens, NY. He later lived in Forest Hills and Orient Point before recently moving to Jackson, NJ.
Michael was a proud alumnus of The City College of New York (CCNY), where he earned his undergraduate degree. He went on to receive his Master's of Social Work from Hunter College and spent his professional life as a dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker, touching the lives of many until his retirement.
Michael was a man of varied interests and deep passions. He found great joy in nature-gardening, fishing, boating, and camping. Some of his happiest memories were made on the Hudson River, spending time aboard the family boat. He was also a gun enthusiast, collector, and an active member of a gun club, where he enjoyed skeet shooting.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Marianne (née Hackett), whom he married on May 15, 1965. He is also survived by his loving daughter Melanie Campora and her husband Jim; his dear sister Valerie O'Connor and her husband Vincent; and his nephew and niece, Jeffrey O'Connor and Katherine O'Connor.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Sunday, June 22nd from 2:00-4:00 PM at Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Ave, Summit, NJ. A prayer service will be offered during the visitation at 3:45 PM. Burial will be held on Monday, June 23rd at 11:00 AM at Maple Grove Cemetery, Kew Gardens, NY (please meet outside the cemetery office).
