Michael F. Smarrito Sr.

Michael F. Smarrito, Sr., of Brigantine, NJ, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 13, 2025. He was 78 years old. Born and raised in Camden, NJ, he lived in Cherry Hill for many years. Michael served as a Camden City Firefighter for 25 years and 8 months, retiring in June of 1995. Most of his career was spent at the firehouses at 27th and Federal Streets and at 27th Street and Hayes Avenue. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Michael was the son of the late Samuel Smarrito and the late Claire (nee Jones) Smarrito. He was the beloved husband of the late Lorraine Gayle (nee Staas) and Charlene (nee Kelter). He was the loving father of Michael Smarrito (LeeAnne), Salvatore Smarrito (Tina), Nicholas Smarrito and John Smarrito (Joanne Little). Devoted grandfather of Zack Smarrito, Gianna Smarrito, Thomas Hamilton, Ashleigh Gift (Jonathan), Elijah Smarrito, Alexandria Smarrito, Mia Koehl, and Jon Smarrito. He is also survived by his sister Lynn and many other loving family members across the country.
