Michael David Smith

Michael David Smith, age 70, passed away at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN on February 14, 2026. He was born in Bloomington, IN on August 30, 1955, to Opal Smith. Michael finished high school and attended college; he also joined the Air Force and proudly served our country. He worked at Stone Belt helping people with special needs. He also worked security at different places.

Michael is survived by his beloved daughter, Mariah Savell; former wife, MeLisa Smith; and grandchildren Vinn Asia Savell and Zamora Bradford. Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Opal Smith.

Michael was an amazing person, always helping someone in need. He would give the shirt off his back. Reading everyone's comments and hearing all the stories and conversations about how great of a guy he was, speaks for itself. He always checked on everyone and always kept people in his prayers. His most prized possessions were his daughter and two grandkids; they meant the world to him, and everyone knew that. He was the type of person to know something about every place and know someone everywhere he went. He had too much love to give; perhaps that is why he passed on Valentine's Day.
