Albert "Al" Wandell Smith, 88, of Simpsonville, SC passed away Friday, February 27, 2026.

Born in Slater, SC, he was the son of the late Richard and Lois Coke Smith.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Al served his country with honor. After his military service, he devoted 47 years to Daniel Construction, where he excelled as a welder and pipe fitter, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues. His strong work ethic and commitment to quality were hallmarks of his professional life.

Al was not only known for his skills on the job but also for his vibrant personality off the clock. An avid golfer and a staunch supporter of Clemson University, he enjoyed sharing his passions with family and friends. His love for the game was matched only by his devotion to Christ, as a faithful follower and active member of Five Forks Baptist Church. There, he served as a deacon and greeter, warmly welcoming all who entered.

Above all, Al was a dedicated family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat Smith; his daughter, Alicia Aloia; his son, Brian Keith Smith (Kaye); step-daughter, Lisa Russell-Pinson; four grandchildren, Jacob Alwine, Krystal Smith, Amanda Smith, and Lily; his chosen granddaughter, Nicole "Bo" Brown; five great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Addison, Karlie, Laine and Knox; and numerous nieces and nephews. Al's legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Margaret E. Williams and Angeline Smith Snipes.

Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating Al's life on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Five Forks Baptist Church with a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Following the service, Al will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Five Forks Baptist Church, 112 Batesville Road, Simpsonville, SC 29681.
