Michael J. Spellacy, 91, of Meriden, passed away peacefully, reunited with his beloved wife and best friend, Barbara, on Sunday, October 26, 2025. Born on September 22, 1934, in Meriden, he was the son of the late Michael J. and Edna (Russell) Spellacy.
A proud graduate of Meriden High School, Class of 1952, Michael first met Barbara there-the love of his life. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy and later worked for Insilco Co. and the Knights of Columbus Supreme Office.
Deeply proud of his Irish heritage, Michael was active in the A.O.H., Knights of Columbus (4th Degree), American Legion, and Catholic War Veterans. A devoted parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church, he served faithfully as a Eucharistic Minister.
Michael was an avid Boston Red Sox and Green Bay Packers fan and loved organizing parish bus trips with Barbara, creating lasting memories for all who joined. Some of his happiest days were spent with family and friends at the Irish Village in Cape Cod.
He is survived by his children Kevin (Rhonda) Spellacy of Vero Beach, Mark Spellacy of Southington, and Susan (Andrew) Willette of Meriden; grandchildren Matthew (Jill), Daniel (Kelly), Christopher (Karen), and Justine (Eric); and ten beloved great-grandchildren, and niece, Barbara Bajurny. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara, brother, Kenneth Spellacy, and grandmother, Nora Russell.
Family and friends may gather on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, CT 06450.
