Michael A. "Mike"
Age 57, of Plum, formerly of Morningside, unexpectedly passed, following the tragic events in Rustic Ridge, Plum Borough. Beloved husband of 17 years to Jacqueline (Fisher) Thomas; adoring father of Hannah Thomas; brother of William Thomas, John (Margaret) Thomas, Victoria (Richard) Ruszkiewicz, Margaret (Jeffrey) Karman, and Robert (Rachael) Thomas; brother in law of James Richard "JR" (Nicole) Fisher; son of the late John and Teresa Thomas; also survived by, mother in law, Joan Fisher, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Mike was a devoted man. Devoted to God, to family, to friends, and his role in his community. He was hugely dedicated to his job with the community of the Boro of Plum. In his role as Boro Manager, Mike worked closely with his incredible co-workers to move the Boro forward in serving its citizens. He will be remembered for his no nonsense approach to tackling large projects and his unending reliability to those who counted on him. Outside of the office, his devotion was to his family, his girls. The light of his life, Hannah could count on her Dad to be at every soccer game, cheering on her and her teammates. Being there for people was simply what Mike did. A notable talent of Mike's was that of his culinary ventures. A self proclaimed foodie, Mike could commonly be found in the kitchen cooking world class Italian cuisine. Though many had the privilege of enjoying his tasty homemade delicacies, it was widely known that he was, in fact, a food snob- and unlikely to indulge in foods not worthy of his palette. The memories of his homemade meatballs, carefully prepared sausage, and one of a kind Sunday sauce will forever serve as a blessing to those who broke bread with him over the years.
The community is welcome at the Mass of Christian Burial being held on Wednesday, 11:00am in St. Raphael's Church of St. Jude Parish celebrated by Fr. Kevin Poecking. A private entombment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Plum Rotary, Oakland Catholic Soccer, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital are strongly encouraged.
