Thorpe, Michael H. – of Clio, age 69, died Thursday, June 13, 2024, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the O'Guinn Funeral Home in Clio. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 11AM until the time of service at 1PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation, in honor of his father Howard.
Michael was born July 9, 1954, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Howard and Barbara (Snow) Thorpe. Michael was a proud graduate of Bentley High School, Class of 1972, and went on to marry his beloved wife, Tamera Butz, on August 2, 1975. He worked for General Motors for over 30 years before his retirement. A true family man, Michael cherished moments with his children and grandchildren, considering them his greatest joy. Whether fishing, hunting, or escaping to their cabin in Mullet Lake, Michael found joy in life's simple pleasures. Michael's kindness and love touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Surviving are: Wife of 49 years, Tamera Thorpe; Daughters: Jami (Nate) Perry, and Richelle (Ken) Roach; Grandchildren: Brady (Makayla) Laffrey, Ben Roach, Sydney Roach, Landon Perry; Great Grandchildren: Ashtyn Laffrey, Novalee Laffrey; Mother-In-Law, Jackie Butz; Siblings: Diane Wilson, Jeff (Wanda) Thorpe, Stacey (Steve) Streeter; Furry companion, Buddy. He is preceded in death by his Father-In-Law, John Butz, Brother-In-Law, Jim Wilson Nephew, Michael Thorpe.
