It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael Gene "Mike" Waters, Jr., a beloved husband, father, entrepreneur, and friend, who left us on September 29, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on September 6, 1953, in Macon, Georgia, Mike was a spirited soul who filled the lives of those around him with warmth and laughter. A graduate of Gordon High School, Mike's journey took a significant turn when he met the love of his life, Jane Tanner, at a gathering in the parking lot of a Shoney's Restaurant. Their love blossomed, leading to their marriage-a union filled with joy, adventure, and resilience. They built their lives together in Jonesboro, Georgia, where they raised their two children, Shaun and Alexandria "Ali" Blanton, both of whom reflect their father's strength and kindness. Mike was a natural entrepreneur, known for his unwavering work ethic and creativity. He founded Waters & Sons Painting Company, which he ran successfully for many years, demonstrating his commitment to quality and service. His entrepreneurial spirit also led him to own a restaurant and a gift-wrapping business, showcasing his diverse talents and passion for life. In 2022, Mike and Jane retired to St. Augustine, Florida, where Mike embraced the joys of retirement with enthusiasm. He quickly became a cherished figure at Arnold's Bar & Grill, where his lively singing and dancing brought smiles and entertainment to guests- a testament to his free spirit and love for connection. Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Jane Waters, and their children, Shaun Waters and his wife Krystal and Alexandria "Ali" Blanton and her husband Derek; a sister, Deborah Nelson and her husband Bill. He is also survived by his beloved 6 grandchildren, who affectionately called his "Chop Chop" His legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a charity of your choice in his honor, reflecting the generosity that Mike exemplified throughout his life.
