Michael W. Welsh

Michael W. Welsh, at the age of 66, passed away in his home on the week of February 26th, 2023. He was a kind and gregarious man, always a rock for his friends and family. He will be missed by everyone who knows him.
His life began in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin where he was welcomed into the world by two loving parents, Mary Sherwin and Robert Welsh. Growing up, he loved working on the farm with his family in southwest Wisconsin. He spent time living with his Uncle Chuck and Aunt Elaine, where he picked up many of his skills as an electrician and handyman. At that time, he was often found with his Uncle Wayne, his grandparents, and the Miesses on the farm. Later in life, he would share how proud he was of his time at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where he met so many of his lifelong friends. He eventually moved to Minnesota, and later Illinois to work as an architect, where he met his wife at the time, Karen Welsh. Together, they had two boys, Drew and Ian, who they lovingly and devotedly raised. He spent countless hours coaching them on their numerous sports teams and was always cheering at their games and concerts. He was passionate and skilled in his work designing pharmacies, and from his home in Naperville, he operated his one-man, altruistic, enthusiastic "handyman service" for the entire neighborhood. He loved his friends and family deeply.
He enjoyed golfing, cars, the Packers, pool, playing cards, music (especially The Boss), and above all, spending time with his friends and family. He was a master euchre player and was known for his competitive spirit.
He is survived by his two sons Drew and Ian Welsh, his mother Mary Sherwin, his father Bob Welsh, his sister Kathy Acklam, his Aunt Elaine Kohlmeyer, and Karen Welsh. He is preceded by his brother Bob Welsh. He will be missed by his friends and family - especially his nieces and nephews: Sara and Amy Welsh; Nick and Chris Acklam; Matt and Caitlyn Walsh; Keli, Amanda, and Dylan Walsh; and Brooke and Hunter Amelio.
His visitation service will be from 3pm to 7pm, Thursday the 9th at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Homes & Crematory, 24021 Royal Worlington Dr, Naperville, IL 60564. Interment private.
We will miss him dearly.
