Michael Neal Wheeler, age 73, joined his beloved wife, Dee in heaven on October 31, 2025. Mike was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky to the late Vivian and Katherine (McElroy) Wheeler on March 25, 1952. He is a graduate of Warren Central High School in Bowling Green, Kentucky and continued his education at Western Kentucky University by earning a bachelor’s degree in agriculture.
Mike was a member of Christ Methodist Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He devoted his time to God, his country, and his family. Mike was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force that served during the Vietnam War. He continued his service by enlisting in the Kentucky National Guard. He later became a member of the American Legion and local VFW.
Mike was always sure to share his love for Jesus with others as he never met a stranger. He cherished his late wife, Dee and the time that they had together. They would devote their time to being with family and friends, listening to some of Mike’s favorite bluegrass music, or just being home with his beloved dogs, Scooter and Greg, and cat Walter. Mike also loved watching sports particularly his WKU Hilltoppers, Washington Redskins, and New York Yankees.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Delores “Dee” Wheeler, mother, Katherine Wheeler, father, Vivian Wheeler, sister, Sondra Million, and brother, Larry Wheeler.
Michael Wheeler is survived by his children, Denise Mitchell (Mark), Sherry McNeal, and Donny Petross, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a special friend, Becky Beeler, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and especially Gary who showed unwavering dedication, support, and love for Mike in his final years.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Hendersonville Funeral Home from 10:00am until the time of service. The chapel service will begin at 12:00pm with burial to follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your charity of choice as Mike’s generous heart often donated to several charities such as the local humane societies, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and Veteran assisting organizations.
