Michael Busby Witt

Michael Busby Witt, 77, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on June 18, 2025. He was born on March 19, 1948, in Richmond, Indiana.
Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and was soon to become a great-grandfather-a role he was looking forward to with joy. Known for his integrity, kindness, and humbleness, Mike had a gift for connecting with people. He never met a stranger and could spark a conversation with anyone.
A dedicated and hard-working man, Mike spent 22 years with Gibson Greeting Cards in Berea. He later co-owned R & M Tree Service and Pine Grove Sporting Clays. Farming was a lifelong passion, one he had pursued since his youth.
Mike was a faithful follower of Christ and a devoted member of Sandgap Christian Church, where he served for many years as Secretary and Treasurer. His faith was a guiding light in his life.
He found joy in simple pleasures: deer hunting, shooting sporting clays, chewing Redman, and sharing stories-often more than once-with those he loved. But above all, Mike cherished time spent with family and friends.
Mike is lovingly remembered by his children: Michael Brian (Kim) Witt, Jason Lee (Melissa) Witt, and Trina Renee (DeWayne) Mercer. He is also survived by his cherished siblings: Connie Baker, Brenda (Lonnie) Russell, Kathy (Larry) Gabbard, Anthony (Joy) Witt, Roger (JoAnn) Witt, and Vicki (Mike) McFerron.
Mike leaves behind a proud legacy through his grandchildren: Arikka Standafer, Lauren (Lucas) Moore, Serena Witt, and Addan Witt, as well as one great-grandchild expected soon.
He will be fondly remembered by his extended family, including his brothers-in-law Pete (Donna) Daugherty and Clifton (Kim) Daugherty; sisters-in-law Rosetta Banks and Jennifer (Ben) Hurt; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Charlotte Daugherty Witt, his father, Frank Witt, and his mother, Ophelia Rose Witt.
Visitation will begin at 2 pm Sunday June 22, 2025 with funeral services following at 3 pm at the Sandgap Christian Church with Bro. Kenneth Wilder, Bro. Gerald Maupin, and Bro. Jason Witt officiating. Burial will be in the Witt Family Cemetery on Pine Grove Rd. Pallbearers will be Kris Cunagin, Wes Judd, Albert Fox, Gerard Lakes, Jacob Hurt, Lannie Davidson, Caleb Davidson, and Cody Powell. Lakes Funeral Home in Berea will be handling arrangements.
