Michael Ysco, Sr., 94 of Tucumcari, NM, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on July 7, 2023.
Michael was born on August 3, 1928 in Tucumcari, NM to Plutarco Ysco and Refugia (Hernandez) Ysco. Michael was raised in Tucumcari, where he also attended Tucumcari Public Schools. In his youth, Michael worked at various jobs. At the time of his marriage, he worked at the Round House in the railroad yard in Tucumcari. In 1960, Michael moved to California where he started his own business, installing carpet. Michael lived in California for 45 years, before moving back to Tucumcari, in 2005. Michael continued to install and clean carpet in Tucumcari, retiring in 2016 at the age of 87. Michael was a member of the Divine Connection Church in Tucumcari. He was a devoted member of the church and was an active participant.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife: Lucia Saavedra Ysco, his second wife: Genova Vigil Ysco, his third wife: Beatrice Ysco, and his sons: Carlos Ysco, John Ray Ysco and infant son Michael Ysco Jr.
Michael is survived by his children: Richard (Bea) Ysco of Tucumcari, Michael Edward Ysco of Mesa, AZ, Mary (Fred) Romero of Tucumcari, Eugene Ysco of Tucumcari, Patricia (Hector) Fulgencio of Benicia, CA and stepson: Jerry Saavedra of Tucumcari. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous relatives, family and friends.
A special thank you goes out to his beloved granddaughter, Alyssa Diaz, who was his secondary caregiver and was there with Michael until his passing. Thank you to Dr. Willis, Lori Hayden, Mercedes Vega, Amber, Presbyterian Hospice, Pastor Fred and Rita Caton and his church Family for their love and support.
Services for Michael will be August 3, 2023 at 2PM at Divine Connection Church, 310 E. Rt. 66, Tucumcari, NM 88401. Pastor Fred Caton will officiate the service and interment of cremains will follow at Tucumcari Memorial Park, with Michael's grandchildren and great-grandchildren serving as Urn Bearers.
