Michael Leon Zackmire

Michael "Mike" Leon Zackmire, age 61, of Veedersburg, passed away on January 6, 2026, in New Castle. He was born in Lafayette on August 3, 1964, to the late Donold Roy and Twila Marie (Holycross) Zackmire.

Mike graduated from Fountain Central High School in 1983. He established his own trucking company, where he worked hauling grain for many years. In addition to owning his own business, he possessed remarkable skills in construction. Mike had a deep love for his family and spent time outdoors, enjoying activities such as hunting, fishing, and riding four-wheelers.

While incarcerated, Mike found his faith and developed a profound relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and was a member of God Behind Bars Ministry. He became a counselor for special needs inmates, demonstrating his compassion and commitment to helping others.

Mike is survived by his children, Devon (Megan) Zackmire and Maysa (Jacob) Turner and Fiancé, Lorie Marshall.

He was preceded in death by parents.
