Michael R., anthropologist and pathologist, September 28, 2025, of Audubon, PA. Dr. Zimmerman was a faculty member of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Pennsylvania for 45 years and a Consulting Scholar at the Penn Museum. He was also Consulting Scholar in the UK at the University of Manchester’s KNH Centre for Biomedical Egyptology and Adjunct Professor of Biology at Villanova University. His research publications and lectures focused on mummy paleopathology.
Dr. Zimmerman is survived by his wife Barbara (nee Robbins) Zimmerman, his children Jill (John) Zimmerman-Calise and Wendy (Sean) Phillips and his grandchildren Leah, Kara, Ethan, Jenny (Ozzy) and James. He was pre-deceased by his sister Edith Chickie Rosenberg.
Services were held on September 29, 2025. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michael’s memory may be made to Temple Brith Achim (brithachim.org).
