Michele Lea Grandy, 77, of Sea Level, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, at ECU Health Medical Center.
A graveside service to honor Michele’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 16th at Nelson Bay Cemetery in Sea Level, officiated by Rev. Terry McInnis. The family invites you to join them for a reception at Sea Level Fire and Rescue Department following the graveside service. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday, August 15th at Munden Funeral Home.
Michele was born on November 27, 1947, in Norfolk, Virginia, to the late Horace and Theo Finney. Throughout her career, Michele demonstrated unwavering dedication to serving others. Following a 20-year tenure as a switchboard operator at Sea Level Hospital she transitioned to working as a data processor at the hospital and then went into managing bookkeeping for Styron Creek, Nelson Bay, and Shell Hill Cemeteries. But it was her dedication to the Sea Level community that she loved the best. Michele generously volunteered with the Sea Level Fire and Rescue where she constantly put the needs of others above her own.
Michele was known for her upbeat and positive personality, inspiring those around her with her genuine love and care. She lived a selfless life and always sought the best for her loved ones. Michele was happiest when she was baking. Her delicious cakes and rich Italian cream cheesecakes were out of this world. The joy of Christmas held a special place in her heart, and she loved decorating for the festive season.
Michele will be profoundly missed by her family and all who knew her, cherished for the love she shared and the joy she brought into their lives.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her sons, Kelly Burgess (Beth) of Franklin, VA, David Grandy (Jackie) of Beaufort, NC and Patrick Grandy (Candy) of Bettie, NC; grandchildren, Patrick Grandy Jr. (PJ), Lauren Nicole Grandy (Mario), and Anthony Coia (Alexis); and great-grandchildren, Bryson Grandy, Jackson Grandy, Layton Grandy, Archer Coia and Scarlet Coia.
In addition to her parents, Michele was preceded in death by her loving husband of 27 years, Leonard Thomas Michael Grandy; sister, Patricia Ann Finney; brothers, Donald Balance and David Balance; daughter, Stephanie Lynn Grandy; and great-granddaughter, Felicity Coia.
