Michelle L. Duprey, 57, of McIntosh Drive, Peru, died Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side.
Michelle was born in Plattsburgh, the daughter of Donald and Linda (Gillespie) Julian.
Michelle met the love of her life John Duprey in April of 1986, and they were married on January 7, 1989. They have enjoyed a fulfilling and true friendship and love for 40 years. They spent as much time as possible at the family camp in Willsboro, their favorite place in the world. They enjoyed many games of Backgammon and nights around a campfire. Michelle was an avid reader and took advantage of every moment she could have her Kindle in her hands.
Michelle was a graduate of Saranac Central School. She worked at Peru Central School as a monitor in the Primary School. The children adored Miss Michelle and greeted her with hugs every day. On Halloween each year, the children ran to Miss Michelle's house to get a hug while her son Jeremy handed out the candy.
Left to cherish the memory of Michelle are, her husband, John Duprey; their daughter Alyssa and her husband Brandon McKinnon; and their son Jeremy Duprey. Her mother Linda (Gillespie) Julian of Cumberland Head; Uncle Glen (Carol) Gillespie of Morrisonville; Uncle Ernie (Donna) Gillespie of Plattsburgh; Aunt Carol (Todd) LaMar; Aunt Jeanne Rock of Chateaugay. Her father and mother-in-law Elmer and Janet Duprey; her sister-in-law Michelle (Duprey) and Robbie Timmons, her nieces Lacy and Allison Timmons. She is survived by many members of the extended Gillespie and Duprey families. She was also survived by her dog Finn who she loved dearly.
Michelle was predeceased by her father Donald Julian, her sister Danielle, and her niece Shanelle; Grandparents Joseph and Theresa Gillespie; Grandparents Floyd and Stella Rock, and her Uncle Danny Rock. We are sure she was greeted with open arms from her dad, sister, and niece.
Michelle's family would like to thank the Essex County EMTs, ambulances and Sheriff's Department for their rapid response to the 911 call in Willsboro on July 9th. We extend a heartfelt thank you to the CVPH doctors, nurses, and medical staff who provided outstanding care while Michelle was in ICU.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday July 29th from 2:00 to 4:00 at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A service will follow at 4:00, in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel.
Donations in memory of Michelle Duprey may be made to the CVPH Foundation (75 Beekman St, Plattsburgh, NY 12901) or the Elmore SPCA (PO Box 686, Peru NY 12972).
