Michelle Thomas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. - Dale City on Apr. 6, 2024.
Michelle Marie Thomas, affectionately known as "Shell", a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend, departed this life on Friday, March 29, 2024. Good Friday.
Michelle was born on November 9, 1968 in Beaufort, South Carolina to Vernell Thomas and the late Earnest L. Thomas, Sr. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her daughter, Shantay Thomas "Nicki"; two grandchildren, Dwayne Shipp, Jr. "JuJu" and Zian Shipp "Munchie"; her mother, Vernell Thomas of Beaufort, SC.; a brother, Earnest L. Thomas, Jr. "Lee"; a nephew, Maurice Thomas "Reese", and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and co-workers.
Michelle was formally educated through the Prince William County Public School System, graduating from Potomac High School in Woodbridge, Va in 1986.
Michelle worked as a Business Analyst SME and Assistant Program Manager at the Department of Defense High Performance Computing Modernization Program for 14 years. Starting as just a part-time receptionist, she was promoted to Executive Assistant the following year. She knew her job, and she did it very well. She was the ultimate team player, often times dedicating her spare time to help her team out, and was always happy to do so.
Michelle was a very loyal, loving, kind, and thoughtful woman who enjoyed spending time with her daughter and grandchildren, "just because" trips to Wal-Mart, talking on the phone with friends and crabs on the weekends. And she would eat them every weekend if she could. She was strong-willed, and would tell you about yourself, then love on you right after. Small but mighty, and full of love.
Michelle treated everyone exactly how she wanted to be treated. She would listen to you for hours without judgement and laugh with you. She may not cry with you, but she surely let you cry to her and then offer support in any way she could. She took great pride in being a mother and grandmother and excelled at the duty.
Her love was unconditional. Her love was limitless. Her presence will be missed.
"Blesses are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted" Matthew 5:4 (KJV)
