Micki Ann Vance entered the heavenly gates on October 11, 2025, while having the time of her life visiting her son in Ohio.
Born on September 27, 1947, to Edith Maxine (Harris) and Kenneth Harrison Nunley. Micki's vibrant spirit and fierce determination were gifts of her Comanche heritage on her father's side. She loved big and never met a stranger.
Some of Micki's fondest memories were summers spent on her grandparents' ranch in Breckenridge, Texas, nestled along the Clear Fork of the Brazos River. That ranch, and the town surrounding it, always held a special place in her heart and remained the hometown of her soul.
In 1991, Micki moved from Wichita Falls to Amarillo, Texas. It wasn't long before she met the love of her life, Gary Vance - though she always said she first fell in love with his daughter, Leah. Micki cherished their life together on the farm in Panhandle, Texas, where she was known for spoiling the family dog and embracing country life with joy.
A dedicated nurse, Micki began her healthcare career as an LVN in hospice care while attending West Texas A&M University. She earned her RN in 1996 and adored her work until retiring in 2004. Her compassion, skill, and dedication made a lasting impact on countless lives.
Micki was a gifted artist whose talents spanned many mediums. She painted delicate China, sketched lifelike portraits and florals, and created intricate quilts that told stories with every stitch. Her sewing room was her happy place, often filled with laughter shared with her dear friend Roneen, the White Deer Stitchers, and the Panhandle Piecemakers Quilt Guild. Her homemade pies were legendary, and she delighted in cooking and baking for her loved ones.
Micki is survived by her loving husband, Gary Vance of Panhandle, TX; her son Jeff Walker and wife Stacy of Zanesville, OH; stepdaughter Leah Lee and husband Stoney of Claude, TX. She was called Mimi by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her cousin Scott Harris; half-brother Rusty Robertson and wife Sandra; and sister- and brother-in-law Marsha and Len Haseloff, and Jimmy Vance.
Micki will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, and the deep love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and cherished her.
A dignified cremation has been entrusted to DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home following services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
