Miguel A. Chinchilla

Miguel Chinchilla, 86, of Piscataway, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Merwick Care and Rehabilitation Center in Plainsboro.
Born in San Jose, Costa Rica, he was one of eleven children. Miguel resided in Costa Rica for the early part of his life before moving to Mexico City to attend medical school. He subsequently moved to the United States in the late 1960's where he completed his medical residency in 1972 at Misericordia Hospital in New York, NY. In 1973 he completed a second residency in the area of pulmonary medicine at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center. Miguel moved throughout the tri-state area before eventually settling down in Piscataway, NJ thirty-four years ago. Dr. Chinchilla worked as a physician and had a private practice in Piscataway and Bound Brook, NJ for many years. In his free time, Miguel loved to read and cook, and his signature dish was huevos rancheros. Miguel would jokingly state to his children and closest friends, " I am not just a good cook, I am a fxxking good cook!" He was also an avid Yankees fan and loved to spend afternoons watching Yankee games with his family.
Predeceased by his parents, Miguel Chinchilla Aguilar and Adelaida Watson Mena; his daughter, Laura Ann Chinchilla; and his siblings, Maritza Chinchilla Watson, Luis Chinchilla Watson and Alberto Chinchilla Watson; he is survived by his three children, Marilou Gallagher and her husband, Brendan, David Chinchilla and his fiancée, Jennifer Rauber, and Brian Chinchilla; his siblings, Carlos Chinchilla Watson, Alvaro Chinchilla Watson, Rodolfo Chinchilla Watson, Maria Eugenia Chinchilla Watson, Gladys Chinchilla Watson, Marielos Chinchilla Watson, and Pedro Chinchilla Watson; and his grandchildren, Steven Cocilovo, Liam Ambrose and Dylan Chinchilla.
Cremation will be private
A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ, where a memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m.
