Mikaya Lynn Berry, 20, of Bedford, passed away suddenly on September 2, 2024, at her home. She was born in Bloomington on October 17, 2003, to Amy Heiliger and Gene Berry. Mikaya graduated from Avon High School in 2022 and was active in Show Choir. She worked several restaurant jobs, most recently as the manager of Penn Station in Bedford.
Mikaya’s outgoing personality led her to several friendships that she cherished deeply. To know Mikaya was to love Mikaya. Her siblings, friends, and family were most important to her. She had a talent for acrylic painting and enjoyed making bracelets. Mikaya was given the gift of a beautiful voice and expressed herself through singing and songwriting. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Mikaya leaves behind several family members including her mother and step-father, Amy Heiliger and Jason Dancey; father, Gene Berry; step-mother, Natasha Berry; brothers, Aires Berry, Geno Berry, Malik Malik, Jack Dancey; sisters, Destiny Icenoggle, Kylie Berry, Jamie Dancey, June Dancey, Jaden Dancey; maternal grandparents, Elizabeth Lowery and Andrew Heiliger (wife, Teresa); maternal great-grandparents, Lawrence and Joyce Heiliger; step-grandmother, Kathleen Kilian; uncles, Calvin Berry (wife, Heather), Thomas Heiliger; aunts, Itia Saahir (husband, Mohammod), Felicia Berry, Nicole Berry, Sarah Heiliger; nieces, Willow and Khaliyah; and several other extended family members and many friends.
Mikaya is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Gene Davis and Joyce Berry; and uncle, Isaiah Berry.
Mikaya’s Life Celebration® Visitation and Service will be held on Tuesday, September 10th, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville.
