John Michael Fox (Mike), age 83 of Sulphur Springs, Texas passed away on October 6, 2025 at his residence after a prolonged and brave struggle with cardiac heart failure and Alzheimer’s disease. Mike wished to be interred at his mother’s family plot in Marion, NC so no local service will be held at this time.
John Michael was born on February 19, 1942 in Newport News, Virginia to John Joseph and Carnett Estelle (Elliott) Fox. He married Luz Awilda Hernandez on October 16, 1982 at the New Walk Ministry in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Before retiring to Texas, Mike worked for many years as their Graphic Arts Coordinator for Boyd Gaming in Las Vegas, Nevada.
A veteran of the United States Army National Guard, he was an avid defender of the 2nd Amendment, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), and a World War II gun and rifle collector. Mike loved reading, history, classical music, watching old movies and traveling. He was a foster dog dad with Let Love Live in Cookville, East Texas.
He is survived by his wife of almost 43 years, Luz Fox; two daughters in Las Vegas NV, Elizabeth A. Meador and husband, Tim, and Rebecca E. Sesman and husband, Tomas; son, Jason G. Fox and wife, Kelly in Coal Valley IL, step-daughter, Judy Beauchamp-Caceres and husband, David in Long Beach CA, and step-son Dr. Thomas G. Beauchamp-Hernandez and wife, Elvia in Rancho Cucamonga CA; twelve grandchildren, Timothy Meador Jr. and wife, Lindsey, and Jeremy Meador, both in Las Vegas, NV Conner Fox and wife, Megan in Davenport IA, Andrew Gabriel Beauchamp, Amaly Beauchamp, and Joshua Beauchamp in Rancho Cucamonga CA, Desiree E. Sesman, Ethan Sesman and Skyler Fox in Las Vegas NV, Enrique Gabriel Autran-Beauchamp and his two younger sisters, the sweet Caceres-Beauchamp girls in Long Beach CA; nephews, Michael Osborne in Hesperia CA, Heinrich Fox and wife, Ginnie in New Brighton MN, and Anton E. Fox and wife, Amber in Spokane WA; niece, Deborah Osborne Reed (Debbie) in Palm Springs CA.
John Michael was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathryn Osborne and husband, Don; nephew, Stephen Osborne; older brother and best friend, Harold Fox “Sonny”, and mother-in-law, Luz M. Ramos Milian “Lucy”. They are all now forever together in the presence of their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Christus Mother Frances Hospital – specially the Emergency Room staff, Dr. James Gulde, The Hopkins County EMS, Hospice Plus, and Vital Caring Home Health for their professional and personal care as well as the kindnesses they gave us these past 2+ years.
