Michael "Mike" James McGarrity, 84, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, in Granbury.
All services will be private.
Mike was born in Fort Worth on August 15, 1940. He married Shirley Easley and together they had one son, Patrick. Mike had a profound sense of service, proudly serving his country in the US Air Force as part of the canine corps in England. He spent nearly 30 years serving his clients at Mike McGarrity Chevrolet in Andrews, Texas.
Mike was known for his unwavering Christian faith, always giving and helping others. He brought joy to many with his wonderful sense of humor, deep laugh, and twinkling Irish eyes. Mike enjoyed reading, spending time at the lake, and being with friends who became like family. His dedication to service extended through his and Shirley's consistent support of Mission Granbury, Samaritan's Purse, and the Edna Gladney Center for Adoption. Above all, Mike will be remembered for the love he had for his family.
Mike is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley; his son, Patrick, and wife Caryn McGarrity; and his granddaughters, Katherine and Abigail McGarrity.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Naomi McGarrity.
Memorial contributions can be made to Mission Granbury or Samaritan's Purse.

I have many memories, as I had worked for Mike for 20 years. The most prominent thing I will always have with me is he taught me how to deal with customers and fellow employees. I didn't even know I was being taught that until we departed ways. Mike was very generous with me and others. I love you Shirley, Patrick, Caryn, and girls!

One of my earliest memories of Mike was when he hired me to wash cars at McGarrity Chevrolet. I had just spent over a decade incarcerated and this was my first job out of prison. A few days in Mike calls me to his office. I had no idea what to expect because I didn't know him. He asked how I was and how I was adjusting. He let me know that he was there for me if I ever needed anything. He said he wanted me to be successful wherever I went and then gave me $100 bill and wished me well in life! But what I will miss the most is how Mike made me feel. He didn't just see me as his son, he treated me as if I was really his son. I will never forget his kindness and I will miss him dearly.
