Mike Schelling Sr of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Friday June 28th 2024 at the age of 64. Mike is survived by his wife Vivian Schelling; 2 children, Chelsea and Michael; Daughter in Laws, Emily and Kerstie, and a granddaughter Sawyer. He is also survived by his two sisters Gail Ashley (Denzil) and Liz Schelling, his nephew Jake Ashley (Katie) and his niece Madison Ashley. He is preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Martha Schelling.
"Michael Leroy" as many of his friends and family knew him was a lover of life, an extremely hard worker, and a deeply caring and selfless man. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a man who did not know a stranger and who would go out of his way to help someone in need.
To go along with a career of constructing bridges and buildings, Mike could often be found in his oasis of a garage workshop tinkering with projects to fix or improve the world he inhabited. He was always jamming to some of his favorite tunes and would rarely be found alone, since spending time with friends and family was one of his main priorities. He sacrificed so much of his time and talents to provide an amazing life for his family and for that we are forever grateful. He was so loved, and will be sorely missed.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 4 pm to 8 pm at Newcomer, East Louisville Chapel (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243). A memorial service will take place on the morning of Wednesday, July 10th, 2024 at 11am at the funeral home following a short visitation that will begin at 9am.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike's memory may be made to Hosparus of Louisville, the Alzheimer's Foundation or the Humane Society.
