Jerald "Jerry" L. Colyer, age 78, of Simpsonville, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
He was born on October 25, 1946 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Ruth and Roy Colyer.
He attended Eastern High School and Kentucky Southern College in Louisville. After graduation, Jerry served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. He was an entrepreneur who created several successful businesses in the Louisville area. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Robert Colyer, and his wife of 57 years, Jean Colyer.
Jerry is survived by his loving family, his daughter, Jennifer Richardson (Marc); son, Jeff Colyer (Brittney); grandchildren, Anna, Daniel and David Colyer and Alicia Richardson; his sister, Joan Malone (Donnie), and many friends and extended family.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243).
Visitation will also be from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am on Friday, August 15, 2025 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Floydsburg Cemetery in Crestwood, Kentucky.
