William Michael "Mike" Smith, 77, of Norris City, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He was born on July 6, 1947, in Eldorado, the son of William Bland and Naomi (Boals) Smith. Mike married Jennie Elizabeth Clifford on October 16, 1970, and she survives. He was a mechanic and liked to work on cars and lawnmowers. Mike enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife Jennie Smith of Norris City, IL, Mike is survived by his children, Rebecca Tibbs and Ashly Smith, both of Norris City, IL; grandchildren, Nicholas (Makiah Shafer) Stensrud, Alexander "Mikey" (Jade Standley) Stensrud, Dustin Tibbs, Nicholas Tibbs, Ethan (Mahayla Rogers) Tibbs, Jade Tibbs, and Tristan "T.C." Tibbs; three great-grandchildren, Tinley Stensrud, Willow Stensrud and Layne Tibbs; a sister, Peggy Brewer of Norris City, IL; and a special nephew, Billy Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Gene Alan Smith.
A visitation for Mike Smith will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Campbell Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses, and will be accepted at the funeral home. Donations may also be mailed to 609 W. Main St. Carmi, IL. 62821.
