Curtis Michael Wilburn, 68, of Danville, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 4:00 PM on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Lawrence Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Williams and his son, Ryan Wilburn officiating. Burial will be at Midway Memorial Garden.
Born on December 19, 1955 to the late Curtis and Dean Wilburn, Mike was an HVAC Tech for over 30 years at Lovelace Service where he ruled the office with an iron fist, but would keep everyone laughing with his humorous jokes. ("For all your HVAC needs, call Lovelace Services...") He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and look for ginseng with his brother Davey. Mike loved Alabama football and the Moulton Speedway almost as much as he loved spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a strong man; he said what he meant and meant what he said. Mike was caring and had the biggest heart, being willing to help anyone in need.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Kathey Wilburn; children, Chris Wilburn, Lonnie (Dallas) Wilburn, and Ryan Wilburn; bonus sons, Justin Roberts, and Isaac "Ugg" Griswold; granddaughters, Morgan (Austin Baker) Wilburn, Makayla (Isaac) Willis, Cyara (Laine) Terry, and Zoey "Sunshine" Wilburn; great-grandsons, Braylen, Eli, and Kai; great-granddaugter, Maya; grand-pup, Henry; brothers, David and Houston; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents; son, Chad Wilburn; sisters, Kathy Wilburn, and Joan Wilemon; parents-in-law, Charlie and Lorene Colburn.
Pallbearers will be David Steele, Houston Lovelace, Justin Roberts, Isaac Griswold, C-Mo Mosley, Chris Malone, Chris Martin, and Rickey Bradford. Honorary pallbearers are Uncle Cadle Wilburn and Butch Walker.
The family extends special thanks to his nurse, Peaches at Decatur Morgan for spoiling him and caring for him during his final moments. Thanks to all the friends and loved ones for their love, care and support during this difficult time. We love you all! ROLL TIDE!
