Mildred Ellice Boyd, age 97, of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away on June 20, 2025, in Gulfport.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Alvin Boyd; her parents, Charlie and Amy McCardle; her son, Dennis Boyd; son-in-law, Don Jones; brothers, Stanley McCardle, Buck McCardle, and Richard McCardle; and sisters, Betty Morgan and Carol Keller.
She is survived by her children, Joyce Jones, Marilyn Thornton (James Fox), and Ted Boyd (Judy); grandchildren, Brian Jones, Jason Boyd (Holly), Julie Boyd, Jeremy Dryman (Amy),Danny Dryman, and Blake Newell (Nicole); great-grandchildren, Zachary Davis, Courtney Boyd, Christopher Boyd, Avery Jones, Camden-Tate Newell, Charleigh Russell, Ailanni Dryman, Aaliyah Dryman, Tekoa Dryman, Oliver Dryman, and Libby Dryman. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, as well as sisters-in-law Connie Boyd and Georgia Mae McCardle.
Mildred was a native and lifelong resident of Gulfport. She was a retired homemaker, a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church, and an active member of the Red Hat Society. She especially cherished her time in the “Charlie's Angels” Sunday School Group.
She loved gardening, especially tending to her lily garden, which brought her great joy for many years. It saddened her when she could no longer keep it up. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends playing Bunco.
Mildred loved her family fiercely and was always concerned about who would care for them after she was gone. Her devotion and care will be missed dearly.
Special thanks to the staff of One Magnolia Place and Arden Hospice for their care, compassion, and assistance during her final days.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
