Mildred Clark Cast

Mildred Clark Cast, age 98, of Rockdale, Texas, passed away in a Cameron nursing and rehab center on Sunday, May 18, 2025. She was born on February 26, 1927, in Georgetown, Texas to Oliver Franklin and Lora Bell (Townsend) Clark.
Mildred moved to Taylor, Texas as a young girl, graduating from Taylor High School. She met and married Ernest Cast in November of 1946. They moved to Rockdale in 1952, where Ernest worked for Texas Power and Light. Mildred was an exceptional homemaker.
Mildred was happiest working outside in her flower and vegetable gardens. She canned, froze or pickled anything in sight. She loved cooking and delighted in making homemade bread, rolls and coffee cakes, along with many other delicious foods. Mildred became an accomplished seamstress early in high school. Her love of drawing caused her to take up oil painting later in life. Love of family and her faith in God dominated her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ernest, a son, Johnny, her brothers, Ernest Clark, Ollie Edward Franklin Clark, and Charles Raymond Clark, and her sisters, Marguerite Willard and Virgie Praesel.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Karen, her sisters, Nell Swanberg and Frances Heckman and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Legacy Nursing and Rehab, especially Ms. Waldene Herring, Director of Nursing, along with so many who took loving care of Mildred. They would also like to thank the staff of Gentiva Hospice who came along side in the last few months to assist and take special care of her, especially Michelle, Annette, Susannah, Rhonda and Kathee.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Heckman, Jr., Kenneth Kisamore, Donald Nowotny and Glenn Zieschang.
