Mildred Dirden Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chamberland Funerals & Cremations on Oct. 21, 2025.
A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and cherished member of her community, Mildred (Brown) Dirden peacefully departed this life to live eternally with her Lord on October 17, 2025, in Dallas, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and faith.
Mildred was born on May 24, 1933, to Leonard Brown and Ola Davis in Bellville, Texas. She attended Coles High School and dedicated her life to education, serving at Corpus Christi Independent School District until her retirement in 1998. Her career was marked by a deep commitment to nurturing and inspiring students and colleagues alike.
Affectionately regarded as "Sister Dirden" and "Millie" by her family and friends, Mildred accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and remained steadfast in her faith. She was a faithful member of several churches throughout her life, including Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Rising Star Baptist Church, North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship, and most recently, Amity Bible Church. Sharing her selfless and caring nature, she delightfully served with the Nursing Home Ministry and the Homeless Ministry, among others.
A woman of many passions, Mildred loved sewing, crocheting, and staying active through exercise. Her gentle spirit and nurturing heart touched everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Brown; her mother, Ola (Davis) Gambrell; her sisters, Annie Foster and Gloria Cocherham; and her brothers, Milton and Melvin Brown.
Those left to cherish lasting memories include her sister, Barbara Major; her children, Hazel Bailey (Will), Debra Dirden Franklin (Greg), and Roslyn Dirden; her grandchildren, Maceo Bailey, Monica Bailey Alford, and Jamie Bailey Brown; her great-grandchildren, Joseph Bailey, Anthony Alford, Jr., Amarri Alford, Alex Alford, and Jameson Brown; and her great-great-grandchildren, Dallas Ahli Alford and Amir Mahzi Jenkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
