"And from this life I return to you". Mildred "Milly" Shaw Goehring, 97, passed peacefully Friday, July 4, 2025 at the Ascension Living Via Christi Village, Manhattan, Kansas.
Milly was a lifetime resident of Kansas. She was born in Wamego, Kansas to Robert and Eva Harrell Shaw. The homestead that she shared with her parents and siblings taught her the value of faith, love of family, hard work and appreciation for the good times spent together.
On February 27, 1946 she married Lester Goehring. Together the raised three children, Mike, Kathi and Rich, Milly believed this to be her biggest accomplishment in life. She cherished the times spent together as a family. Their personal achievements in life were a direct reflection of the values Milly instilled in their upbringings.
Milly worked for Kansas Farm Bureau for 29 years. She began her career as a pre-insurance life underwriter and progressed to senior life insurance underwriter. Retirement provided her time to enjoy her hobbies of crocheting, reading, baking her specialty coconut cream pie, cinnamon rolls, and most of all, spending time with family and friends.
An avid sports fan from the time she played on the girls' basketball team during her high school years, she cheered for the Kansas State Wildcats and all the sports teams her grand and great grandchildren played on.
Milly was preceded in death by husband, Lester; her parents Robert and Eva Harrell Shaw; two brothers, Bob Shaw, Don Shaw; three sisters, Betty Scafe, Margaret Carrington, Marilyn Workman; son-in-law Steve Marshall.
Survivors include her three children, Mike Goehring (Patti) of Topeka, KS; Kathi Goehring of Olathe, KS; Rich Goehring (Judy) of Manhattan, KS. Four grandchildren, Jamie DeLong, Jared Goehring, Julie Concilio, and Janelle Fritzson. Seven great grandchildren, Connor and Sam DeLong; Peyton and Preslee Goehring; Zoe McCoy; Paxton and Bexley Fritzson.
Milly was blessed to have the friendship of many, both old and new. She was grateful for the care she received from the staff at Via Christi Village along with all the new friends she made while living there.
The family will greet family and friends from 5:00 until 7:00p.m. Wednesday July 16, 2025 at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, Manhattan, KS. Inurnment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial funds in memory of Milly to the Ascension Living Via Christi Village in Manhattan . Contributions may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, KS 66502.
