Mildred "Peggy" Howell, 94

Mildred "Peggy" Howell, 94 passed away Wednesday morning, August 6th 2025, at UH Samaritan Medical Center.

Peggy was born on January 5th 1931 in East Palestine, Ohio to Wilbur C. and Mildred Irene (Nee Mansell) Rambo.

She married the love of her life, Ernest J. Howell, on June 8, 1952. They were married for sixty-seven years before Ernie's passing in 2019.

Peggy was a member of Ashland Christian Church for over twenty years.

A constant in Peggy's life was her love of children; She babysat local children for numerous years and many of them consider her their "bonus grandma." She will be remembered for the love and care she gave to each child she cared for; sometimes as many as ten children at a time! Peggy was a grandma to everyone.

She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey L. Howell of Ashland and Douglas (Bonnie) Howell of Ashland; four grandchildren, Shawn Howell of Greenwich, Amanda (Matt) Welch of Shiloh, and Kaylee Howell of Ashland; eight great grandchildren, Austan, Spencer, and Travis Welch and Alania, Dakota, Kolson, Hudson, and Weston Howell; and two great great grandchildren, Lilian and Landon Howell.

Peggy is preceded in death by her Husband, Parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held, Thursday August 14th 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Scot Myers officiating, Interment will follow in the New Pittsburgh Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday August 14th 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
