Mildred Cleora Maitlen, 87, a beloved resident of Waterflow, NM, passed away on July 15, 2025, in Durango, Colorado. She was born on April 17, 1938, in Farmington, New Mexico to Harry Smouse and Emily Secrest.
Mildred was a proud graduate of Kirtland Central. Whereas later in life she would become a cook for central consolidated schools. Mildred loved the outdoors, camping, hunting, and fishing. She loved gardening and working around the home. She loved spending time with her family and just enjoying life and being a homemaker.
Mildred is preceded in death by her parents Harry Smouse and Emily O’Riley and her sister Norma Jean Ivey.
She is survived by her loving husband Jimmie Maitlen, daughter Rhonda Cole and husband Mike Mckinney, brother Sam Smouse, sister Revae Wells, grandchildren Terra Frizzell, Travis Tarno and wife Valori, great granddaughter Kaylee Griffith and great grandson Jaxon.
