Mildred McDaniel

In loving memory of Mildred McDaniel, who left us on May 7, 2025, after her battle with Alzheimer's and Dementia. Mildred, affectionately known as "Mill," was born on December 27, 1949, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and spent her childhood in Mooringsport, Louisiana. It was there that she professed her faith in Jesus Christ, becoming a baptized member of St. John Baptist Church.
After completing her education at Greenmore Elementary School, and later graduating from Herndon High School in 1968, Mill made the significant move to Dallas, Texas. Her dedication to lifelong learning led her to attend Drones Business College and Dallas Community College, where she embraced the title of a "Career Student" and graduated with a focus on Early Childhood Education.
Throughout her years of study, Mildred faced numerous challenges and doubts, but she remained steadfast in her faith, believing in Christ and the path she was called to follow. Her commitment to her faith was further exemplified by her active participation in several churches throughout Dallas, where she dedicated herself to bringing others, especially her family and friends, closer to the knowledge of Christ.
Mildred retired from Sears, Fleming Industry, and Bright Horizons.
She is survived by six siblings, Cornelius "Mary" Hill, Alice "Sugar Do" Hawthorne, Elizabeth "Bet" Hayes (Elvin), Hazel Montgomery, David E. McDaniel (Lee), and Jesse J. McDaniel (Ann); fourteen nieces & nephews, along with a host of great & great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Jennett McDaniel; brother, Freddie G. McDaniel; sisters, Jennie (Floria) Davis, and Martha (Jean) Nelson.
Mildred was a summer, spring, and fall, yet a teddy bear from the inside, offering comfort and joy to everyone around her.
Mildred had a passion for reading, sewing, and education. She loved to explore new technologies and was always eager to share her latest discoveries with family and friends. Her enthusiasm for learning was infectious, and her teaching style, summed up in her favorite saying, "This is how I do it, but you can always do it this way too."
