Mildred Oma Reynolds, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her community, passed away on November 4, 2025, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Born on February 29, 1944, in Knott County, Kentucky, Mildred lived a life full of simple joys and unwavering devotion to her family.
Mildred was known for her nurturing spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand to her loved ones. One of her endearing traits was her penchant for rearranging her children’s pantries, believing that a little adjustment here and there could improve their lives. This instinct to care and improve the lives of those around her reflected her commitment to family and her desire to maintain close connections with them.
A steadfast believer, Mildred found solace in her faith, dedicating time to read her Bible and embracing each day with gratitude. Her days were filled with the love of her family, as well as the companionship of her beloved dog, Rosie. Mildred found happiness in the simple act of cleaning and cooking, pouring her heart into every dish she prepared and every corner she tidied.
She was a proud mother, celebrating the achievements and milestones of her children: Rebecca (Jerry) Biddle of Owen County, Michele Amburgey of Carrollton, and Michael Amburgey of Worthville. Each of her ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews brought her immense joy and fulfillment, reinforcing the importance of family in her life.
Mildred enjoyed the company of her siblings, maintaining close bonds with her sisters Betty Fleenor, Edna Cain, Dora Snelling, and Lola Akemon, all of Scottsburg, Indiana, and Peggy Reynolds of Charlestown, Indiana, as well as her brothers Cantrell Reynolds, Cliff Reynolds, and Steven Reynolds, who also live in Scottsburg. Her family provided her with support, laughter, and unconditional love throughout her life.
Mildred was preceded in death by her father, Drury Reynolds, her mother, Herma Hall Reynolds, her son Mark Amburgey, and her sister Goldie Hall. Their memories will continue to be cherished as part of the legacy that Mildred leaves behind.
As we honor the life of Mildred Oma Reynolds, we remember her kindness, her unwavering support, and the love she so freely shared. She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later time during warmer weather.
