Mildred Irene Sherman
March 2, 1925 – April 4, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Mildred Sherman at the age of 100, on Friday, April 4, 2025, surrounded by her daughters, Cindy Sherman and Beverly Cordray, and her granddaughter Kelly Gibson. Her passing on the same day as her late husband's birthday, Homer Sherman, is a bittersweet reminder that they are now reunited, and we take comfort in the thought that she went to celebrate with him.
Mildred was born on March 2, 1925, in Fountain Grove, Missouri, and her life spanned an extraordinary century of change. She was a witness to countless historical moments and transitions, yet through it all, she remained a constant source of warmth, humor, and love to all who knew her.
On April 10, 1942, Mildred married the love of her life, Homer Sherman, and together they built a beautiful life centered around family and laughter. Over the years, Mildred's heart expanded with love for their three children-Beverly, Donnie, and Cindy-seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. Her love extended beyond her family, ranging from the many pets she had over the course of her lifetime, in which she had also loved as family and viewed as friends she made along her journey.
Mildred was a dedicated worker for many years at Stanburys, where she made lifelong friendships and became a cherished part of the community. Her passion for life extended beyond her work-she found joy in the moments she spent with family, whether it was going on adventures, doing puzzles, playing cards, fishing, sewing, or listening to bluegrass music. Always quick with a one-of-a-kind joke, she had a rare gift of making people laugh until the end.
Mildred's spunk, humor and joy for life will forever be remembered. She will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as all who had the privilege of knowing her.
May she rest in peace, forever with Homer, her son Donnie, and all the loved ones that passed before her.
