Mildred Gladys Shinn

Mildred Gladys Shinn, age 101, died Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Stella Manor Nursing Center. She was born August 17, 1916, in London to Frank Floyd and Rebecca Geneva Powell McDonald. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Ken Shores Sunday school class. She has genuinely loved this small town, The Courier-Democrat, area churches and children. She started Russellville's first daycare and preschool and served on the board that began Friendship Services. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ivern Neal Shinn; and a daughter, Mary. She joins in heaven her siblings, Erwin McDonald, Lester and Hershal McDonald, Ola McDonald Price, Frankie McDonald Dawson, Rheba Hines Whorton, Louise Hines Witt Voigt, and Powell Hines. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda George Gottsponer and Herman and Martha and Mike Revis; four grandchildren, Carol George Cunningham and Ken, Allen George, Brooke Ellen Noble and Daniel Neal Aranda and his fiancée, Niki Sanders; two great-grandchildren, Addie and Jackson Cunningham; and numerous nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00-6:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Booher Cemetery and arrangements are by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
