Mildred Harris White
July 3, 1937 – December 13, 2025
Mildred Harris White peacefully departed this life, age 88, on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at her residence in
Hahnville, LA. She was born on July 3, 1937 to the late Wilbert and Beatrice Harris. Brother of the late Melvin Harris and Sister of the late Leona Wright and the late Geneva Cook.
Her first marriage was to the late Eldridge Benn, to this union no children were born. She later married Herman White, Sr. and to this union two children were born, L'Oreal (Dwight) White and LaDonnica White. She was the step-mother to Robert Sanford, Herman (Trudy) White, Jr., Sharon (Alton) White-Scott, Carla (Lawrence) White-Kochinsky, Pamala White Breda, Lois (Frank) White-Matthews, Vincent White; Sister of Beulah Joseph. She was the proud grandmother of Jerrieal Small, Zana Strickland, Jalayah Lumar (Derrickus), Jazelle and Jahmad Lumar, Jaheim, Jewel, Zalaya Strickland. Her extended family included 28 grandchildren. She was the Godmother of Stella Benn Haydel, Wardell Wright, Felecia Brown, Latasha Cooper, Jeremy Jackson and Dervin Charles.
Mildred joined the Army of our Lord and Savior in the year of 1952 and on Sunday, July 20, 1952 at the age of 14 years old. She was baptized in the Mississippi River by the late Rev. Arthur J. Jones, Pastor of the Philadelphia B.C. She began singing in the choir at an early age and continued to work faithfully and diligently under the leadership of the late Rev. Maxwell Cagge, the late Rev Isiah Charles, the late Rev. Joseph Johnson, Jr. and was currently under the leadership of Rev. Carvin R. Smith, Sr.
She attended school in St. Charles Parish and Graduated from George Washington Carver High School. She also attended Southern University in Baton Rouge and Graduated with a Degree in Secondary Education in 1964. She taught in the St Charles Parish Public Schools for many years. She was a member of the Household of Ruth #1346, and a member of The Ladies of Distinction. Special thanks to Hospice Specialist of Louisiana for taking care of our loved one. She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, L'Oreal and LaDonnica White, (7) stepchildren, (37) grandchildren and (42) great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Wilbert and Beatrice Harris; husband, Herman White, Sr.; two sisters, Leona Wright, Geneva Cook, and one brother, Melvin Harris; three sons in law, Dwight Scott, Glenn Breda and Ernest Ingram, one grandson in law, Jimmy Small, III; two nephews, one niece and one Godchild.
Relatives and Friends of the Family, Pastors, Officers and Members of the Philadelphia Baptist Church, all Neighboring Churches and the St Charles Parish Public Schools employees are invited to attend the Funeral Services at 11:00am on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Philadelphia Baptist Church, 217 Smith Street,
Hahnville, LA 70057. Rev. Carvin R. Smith, Sr., Pastor-Officiant. Visitation 9:00 A.M. until the time of Funeral at the above-named Church. Interment Greenhill Cemetery, Taft, LA. Final Arrangements entrusted to Patrick H. Sanders Funeral Home & Funeral Directors, LLC. 605 Main Street,
