Millard McKinley Wright, age 75, passed away on November 29, 2024 due to complications following a stroke. He was born on May 26, 1949, in Elderslie, Jamaica to Witcliffe and Mulvina (Johnson) Wright and graduated from Saint Elizabeth Technical High School before emigrating to the United States and earning a master’s degree of Architecture from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in 1982.

Millard’s architectural career spanned decades, during which he designed spaces that blended functionality with beauty. His work left an indelible mark on the communities he served, reflecting his deep respect for the environment and creating places where people could thrive. His work brought him all over the world; from the United States and Jamaica to the villages of Kurtunwaare, Somalia where he spent time in 1980 building houses for displaced nomads.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Millard had a profound love of nature and could often be found tending to his vibrant garden. An avid reader and writer, he loved literature, poetry, and music; crafting verses that mirrored his thoughtful and observant nature and learning to play his favorite songs on the guitar.

Millard was preceded in death by his mother, father, sisters Jean and Iris, brother Collin, and wife Florah Trench Wright. He is survived by his wife, Zeanna Dixon Wright, his four children from a previous marriage, Sacha (Thomas), Gabrielle, Benjamin, and Kevin, as well as two granddaughters, three stepchildren, Tony, Kristin, and Zevon, his ward Rayonna, his sisters Grazeline (Rupert), Valrie, and Yucca (Hylton), and his brothers Trevor and Lestroy as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dearly loved friends. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 11:00am at the TM Ralph Funeral Home at 7001 NW 4th Street Plantation, Florida 33317.
