It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Millicent Ann Chapman, lovingly known as "Mitzie" who left us peacefully on September 30th.

Mitzie shared a great love with her husband, Bill, to whom she was married for 53 wonderful years. Together, they built a legacy of devotion, laughter, and family.

Mitzie was a devoted daughter, friend, wife, mother, and grandmother. She lived her life with grace, compassion, and unwavering love for her family. Her kind heart, gentle spirit, and nurturing soul touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Mitzie loved others and loved being in relationship with them. Whether it was her cousin or Kumovi, the customers at the Lincolnway Grill whom she cooked for, or the butcher at Kroger, she loved those around her, no matter who they were. She loved being the mom of "the Kool-Aid house" while her children were growing up, loving those friends as much as her own. Whether it was a warm meal, a comforting word, or a listening ear, she loved to nourish those around her.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that her love continues to surround us, and her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped so beautifully. As she spoke with family on Monday evening, she repeated the words, "I am so happy, I love you all so much." We feel this encapsulates who this woman, friend, mother and Babi was to all around her and are so grateful she was ours.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 6th at Sts Peter and Paul Serbian Orthodox Church in South Bend, Indiana. Visitation will begin at 10am and service at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to your local humane society or animal shelter in her memory. Zahoran Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
