Millie "Joanne" Davis, nee Wisely, 90, of Marissa, IL, born October 22, 1934, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 4, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O'Fallon, IL. Joanne was a lifelong member of the Marissa United Methodist Church. She was very active in church serving on many boards and teaching Sunday School. Joanne worked at Marissa Grade School as a teacher's aide where she touched many young lives.
Joanne was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She nurtured her family making each one feel special and loved. Her grandchildren were such a blessing and brought her joy through the years. Her great granddaughter with her namesake was her light these last 8 months as her health declined.
She lived a Christian life with an abundance of faith. She loved, gave generously and faithfully served the Lord. She was an amazing baker and seamstress. Her gift was helping others through troubled times. Her home was always welcoming. She loved her family and friends and having the privilege of sharing life with her will be unforgettable and she leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and faith.
She was preceded in death by her father – Joel Wisely, her birthmother – Millie Snodgrass, her mother – Faye Wisely, her beloved husband of 56 years, Arthur Hays Davis that preceded in death on November 13, 2008, and by 2 loving daughters – Pamela and Janet Davis.
Surviving is her son – William "Bill" Davis and his son – Trevor Davis, her daughter – Rebecca "Becky" (Roger) Stolte and their children – Brendan Stolte, Allison (Jacob) Wiskamp, her great granddaughter – Emery Joanne Wiskamp and by her siblings, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Memorials; In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the First United Methodist Church of Marissa or to the Freeburg Care Center's live music activities fund.
Visitation; 9 – 11 a.m. Saturday February 8, 2025, at First United Methodist Church in Marissa, IL.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday February 8, 2025, at First United Methodist Church in Marissa, IL with Rev. Christine Lippert officiating. Interment will follow at Marissa TWP Cemetery in Marissa, IL
Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL is in charge of arrangements.
