Mr. Paul William Sinn, 89, of
Marissa, IL born September 18, 1935, in Biddleborn, IL, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Cedar Trails Senior Living Center in Freeburg, IL.
Mr. Sinn was a very active person in his lifetime. His career was in Non-Destructive Testing, including radiology. He started his own business, Paul Sinn Testing, in
Marissa, IL after leaving management at St. Louis Testing Lab, Inc. He was a certified auctioneer and enjoyed partnering with his closest friend, Eldon Reuss, to start Reuss-Sinn Auctions. At one time, Paul had Sinn's Antiques and Collectibles in a house on South Euclid in
Marissa, IL. Hobbies included woodworking, playing cards, gardening, fishing, hunting (especially Morel mushrooms), antiquing and collecting coins-just to name a few!
A lifetime resident of Marissa, Paul cared about his community. He was a Marissa High School graduate, baseball player, deacon in the Marissa Presbyterian Church, volunteer fireman, and board member of Marissa School District. Paul is well known for his jokes, pranks, popcorn balls, and cream puffs. He enjoyed helping others and spending time with family and friends. Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His world revolved around his grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents – Henry and Alma (Meyer) Sinn, son – Kurt D. Sinn, a granddaughter – Kathryn "Katie" Sinn and three siblings – Imogene Heil, Joann Thorton, and June Juenger.
Surviving are his loving wife – the former Marilyn Hobrock, whom he married on June 25, 1993; two children – Robin Sinn of Edwardsville, IL and Mary Beth (Chuck) Whitmore of Alton, IL; two stepdaughters – Bonnie (Jack) Risley and Beth Settles, all of
Marissa, IL; nine grandchildren – Mike Sinn, Jenny (Cullen) Urick, Elaina Sinn, Ian Whitmore, Kathryn "Ali" Whitmore, Laura (Steven) Mudd, Margie (Micheal) Ocello, Hayden (Bri) Helton, Taran Pinnell; and seven great grandchildren – Ivy Sinn, Charlie Anne Ulrick, Laney Whitmore, Ethan Mudd, Evan Mudd, Emry Mudd, Bethany Pinnell.
Memorials may be made to the Randolph County Humane Society in Sparta, IL or a non-profit organization of your choosing.
Please join family and friends in sharing memories, laughter, and love on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home, 114 South Main Street,
Marissa, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m., followed by a brief sermon officiated by Pastor Christine Lippert.
Following the services, a private family interment will be held at Beardstown City Cemetery in Beardstown, IL.
