Minister Milton Charles "Charlie" Bunch, 39, formerly of Jefferson passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in Portland Oregon.
He was born on January 13, 1986, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of the late Milton L. Bunch Sr. and Mary (Brooks) Bunch. Charlie graduated from Jefferson High School, class of 2005. He then served as a combat veteran in the United States Army from 2005 to 2014, with tours in the 1st Infantry Division, 10th Mountain Division, and the 7th Mission Support Command and Theater Logistics Support Center in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He served during both the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, earning two Army Commendation Medals (ARCOM*2), the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and the Iraq Campaign Medal. While stationed in Germany, he distinguished himself as a chorus tenor and lead singer for the prestigious USAREUR Band and Chorus. Following his military service, he attended and graduated from flight attendant training in Vancouver, WA.
Charlie was a lover of music and musical theater. He produced and performed music all over the United States and in some countries during his enlistment in the army. He was ordained as Minister Charles Bunch in 2009 at his home church, Central Missionary Baptist Church in Jefferson, Ohio. Additionally, he was a minister of music for many church conventions, teaching gospel music since a young age. He was inspired by Whitney Houston and Celine Dion especially and played many musical instruments throughout his life.
Charlie is survived by his siblings, Milton Bunch, Jarrod Bunch, Jeffrey Baker, Maryah Baker, Virginia Baker, Franky Bunch, Evan Regis Bunch, and Mahalia Bunch; uncles; Bernard, Darryl (Cathy) and Alvin; his aunt, Anne Freeman of North Carolina; as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 6PM at People Baptist Church, 3837 West Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004. He will be laid to rest at Clay Road/Williams Corners Cemetery, Denmark Township with his parents.

Bunch always made me smile whenever I saw him during our time in Afghanistan. His voice, smile & heart brought so much light to a dark place for me. My memories of him will be cherished forever. I genuinely hope he is resting in peace now.
