Milton Coburn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McClam Funeral Home - New Haven on Mar. 5, 2024.
Milton Ray Coburn departed from this world at the age of 90, entering into eternal rest on February 26, 2024, at his home, shared with his loving wife Jessie Coburn of 24 years. Born on October 22, 1933, in Greenville, NC, to the late Henry and Delia Mooring Coburn. Milton moved to Connecticut at 18 after graduating from Bethel Union High School in North Carolina.
Milton's career spanned decades in the steel industry, culminating in his retirement from Sargent Manufacturing Company at 85, after more than 30 years of service. Renowned for his unparalleled work ethic, often holding 2-3 jobs simultaneously. Milton was particularly famed for his exceptional car detailing skills, which led him to establish his own business. A lover of luxury cars, he also enjoyed watching car races, boxing, wrestling, and music, and cherished his trips South to visit family. Milton, affectionately known as "Mr. Carwash," was also beloved for his humorous and playful nature.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Jessie Coburn, who cared for him up until his last moments. His legacy is carried on by his daughters, Jennifer Coburn-Tillman (Lawrence), Kisha (Kevin) Burgin, Kiara Coburn; sons, Frederick Coburn, Milton Coburn, Jr; daughter-in-law, Doreen Coburn; and his "bonus" children, Steve (Joyce) Godfrey, Tarry (Delores), Linda, Cynthia, Stewart, and Scott Stafford.
Milton's grandchildren, Lorena Coburn, Onesha Glenn, Brianna, Jainise, Jonathan Coburn, Jamale Williams, Latea, and Stashia, and Earl, along with his great-grandchildren Lamar, Perry, Treva, Amir (AJ), and Soraya, and four great-great-grandchildren, will cherish his memory. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Robert Walker; sister-in-law, Gaynell (Willie) Martin; and very special friends Carl (Ann) Harris and Mike Diaz, who were like family. Milton was predeceased by his parents; a son, Bryan Coburn; a daughter, Jessica Coburn; and siblings Lucy Teal, Rosa, John, and David Coburn, also his nephew Lugene Keys. He was also predeceased by his first wife, Jannie Coburn.
