Milton Fields Jr Obituary

Milton R. Fields Jr., affectionately known to all as "Lucky," lived a life that was anything but left to chance. Born on September 27, 1935, in Gonzales, TX, he embarked on a journey that would be marked by laughter, bravery, and an unwavering spirit. Lucky's final curtain call came on August 15, 2025, in San Antonio, TX, when he peacefully passed away, surrounded by the stories and memories that colored his vibrant 89 years.

Lucky was a force to be reckoned with, a true Texas original, who packed more living into his years than most could dream of. After beginning his military career as an Air Traffic Controller in the 340th Combat Support Group at Andrews AFB, he served two-tours in Vietnam. Lucky dedicated over 20 years to his country with the same gusto he applied to every facet of his life, collecting stories and friends along the way. Later he earned his Bachelor's in Business and a teaching certification from Southwest Texas University,

When he wasn't regaling folks with tales of his military escapades, Lucky could be found with his nose in a book or passionately debating with expletives about the latest political happenings. His love for reading was only matched by his love for a good debate, and he was known to charm and disarm others with his quick wit and infectious laughter.

Lucky's faith played a role in grounding him and guiding him through his trials and triumphs. His belief was a quiet strength that he carried with him, a compass that helped him navigate the good times and the bad.

Family was the cornerstone of Lucky's world. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 64 years Bertie M. Fields and leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter in his children, Bridget M. Sherman M.A. and Son in Law Jamie Sherman, sons Dr. Milton R. Fields III and wife LaMondi Fields, and Dr. Michael R. Fields Esq and wife Karen Fields. His spirit will live on through his grandchildren, Demetrius and wife LaShonda Fields, Miles, Jordin, Dominique, Laura, D'Ayre, Milton (Quad) and Maya. Along with his great grandchildren Dayla, Dana, Demetrius II, Dean, Drew, and Adonis who will no doubt inherit his penchant for storytelling and his zest for life.

Lucky's departure left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was a man who could find humor in the mundane, a leader who could inspire with a simple gesture, and a friend who was always there with a joke to brighten your day. His laughter was a melody that resonated in the hearts of those he touched, a tune that will continue to play for generations to come.

So, here's to Milton R. Fields Jr., "Lucky," a man who didn't need luck to live a life filled with richness and joy. He charted his own course, left a trail of chuckles in his wake, and reminded us all that the most important things in life aren't things at all. As we say our goodbyes, we imagine him cracking a joke at the pearly gates, already making the angels laugh. Farewell, Lucky, and thank you for a life wonderfully lived.
