Milton Hayes was born on June 27, 1970, in Columbus, Ohio, to Hamer and Jean Hayes. He experienced an early loss of his father, Hamer Hayes in 1993. Growing up as the only male in a family of strong women, Milton became a cherished son, brother, and friend.
A beloved member of the Brentnell and Brittany Hills communities, Milton built lifelong friendships that endured through the years. His warmth and charisma touched countless lives, and the many who gathered to honor his memory are a testament to the impact he had on those around him.
Milton attended Beechcroft High School and later obtained his GED. He pursued his passion for barbering and received his managing license from The Ohio State College of Barber Styling. Milton went on to become one of the city's most sought-after barbers. His talent, paired with his infectious personality, made his chair a place where people could connect, laugh, and create lasting memories.
Beyond his career, Milton had an adventurous spirit and a love for travel. His final months were filled with journeys, cruises, and meaningful experiences that enriched his life.
Milton's faith was an integral part of his life. He found spiritual fulfillment at Greater Bethlehem Temple Church under the leadership of Suff. Bishop David E. Norman and also attended God's Way Ministries International under the leadership of Pastor Tim Carpenter.
Milton's legacy lives on through those who loved him most: his son, Cameron Joseph Lamarr (Shannon) Hayes of Baltimore, MD; Jakhair (Milton Lagrant) Hayes; his devoted mother, Jean Hayes; His fiancée, Jamiea Day; two uncles, Clerance and James Agee; one aunt Kate Cox of Linden, AL; two brothers, Robert (Sunny) Lindsey and George Lindsey; and four sisters, Lisa (Maxwell) Hayes-Unachukwu, Cherie (Edmin) Hayes-Joiner, Stacy (Antonio) Jeter, and Patricia (Michael) Hayes-Walker, all of Columbus, OH.; three adored granddaughters, Brihana, Rory, and Cali; his only grandson, Cameron; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Milton's life was one of love, laughter, dancing and an indomitable spirit. His absence leaves a void in our hearts, but his presences will be felt in the stories shared, the friendships nurtured and the unwavering love of those who knew him.
