Mitchell Neilson Sterling

Mitchell Neilson Sterling, 16, of Valparaiso, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024. He was born March 7, 2008 in Chicago, Illinois to Carson and Charlotte (Sural) Sterling. Mitchell is survived by his parents of Valparaiso, his brother Gabriel Sterling of Valparaiso, his paternal grandfather John Sterling of Palos Park, Illinois. Preceding him in death are his maternal grandparents Walter and Janet Sural and his paternal grandmother Marilyn Sterling. Mitchell was a junior at Valparaiso High School where he was a member of the Varsity Track Team, Varsity Tennis Team, and the Mayor's Youth Council. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Valparaiso where he had previously been involved with EDGE, Life Teen, and where he graduated from St. Paul Catholic School in 2022. He loved adventure and travel, especially skiing and scuba diving. People will always remember Mitchell's generosity and the way he made them laugh. Visitation for Mitchell will be on Saturday Nov. 9, 2024 from 10:00 AM until Noon in the Queen of Apostles Chapel at St. Paul Catholic Church with mass to follow in the main church at Noon. Rev. Douglas Mayer will officiate with Rev. Roque Meraz concelebrating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.
