Mitzi Gardner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Dec. 24, 2023.
It is with heavy hearts that we gather to bid a fond farewell to the vibrant, resilient, and beloved Mitzi Lucille Gardner. After a life well-lived, Mitzi's journey came to a peaceful close on December 20, 2023, as she departed this world naturally in her hometown of Springfield, MO.
Born to George Thomas Gardner and Myrtle Samantha Duke on November 22, 1961, in Springfield, Mitzi was a ray of sunshine from the moment she entered this world. Her warm smile, infectious laughter, and magnetic personality drew people to her, creating lasting bonds that would be cherished forever. She graduated from Central High School.
Mitzi became a mother on May 6, 1980, to Tyrone Victor-Shantell Lewis-Gardner. She cherished their connection and love until his untimely passing on October 25, 2015.
Mitzi possessed an unyielding strength, demonstrating an unwavering spirit in the face of adversity. A determined and self-made woman, Mitzi forged her path as a talented cosmetologist, leaving an indelible mark on the industry she loved. She operated her own business in various salons, dedicating herself to her craft and the countless clients she served over the years.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Mitzi reveled in the thrill of spotting a good bargain at thrift stores and garage sales. Her love for collecting elephant items was legendary, as she amassed a treasured collection that reflected her vibrant personality. Mitzi's passion for elephants served as a symbol of her affection for the gentle giants, mirroring her own caring nature.
Mitzi's unwavering love and devotion extended to her family, playing a vital role in their lives. She leaves behind her cherished father, George Gardner, whose heart overflows with pride and love for his daughter, and his wife, Clemmie Gardner. Mitzi is also survived by her loving sisters and their spouses, Jewell Gardner and Darren Smith and Carla and Eric Williams.
As a grandmother, Mitzi shared immeasurable joy with her grandchildren: Kyler Coleman-Gardner, London Coleman-Gardner, Peyton Gardner, Paris Coleman, Lil Donnie Paul, Tatiana Paul, Latrese Paul, Patrese Paul, and Donesha Paul. Her love and guidance will forever be etched in their hearts, serving as a lasting legacy for generations to come. She will also be missed by countless nephews, nieces, other family members, former clients, and friends.
She was welcomed to heaven by her mother, Myrtle; her son, Tyrone; her aunt, Mary Hawthorne; and a nephew, Desmon Johnson.
In honoring Mitzi's life and celebrating her remarkable journey, a memorial service will be on Thursday, December 28, 2023, beginning at 11:00 a.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home, North to pay tribute to her vivacious spirit. With tearful eyes and grateful hearts, we will bid farewell to our dear Mitzi, remembering her infectious laughter and the radiant joy she brought to our lives.
May her soul find eternal peace as memories of her love and laughter continue to illuminate our souls. Mitzi will forever hold a special place in our hearts, and her spirit will live on through the countless lives she touched.
Rest in peace, dear Mitzi Lucille Gardner. You have left an indelible mark on our lives, and your memory will be cherished for all time.
