Modena Skaggs Obituary
Modena was united in marriage to Robert Skaggs, who preceded her in death in 2008.
She worked for many years as a seamstress, a trade that reflected her patience and skill. Modena and her husband also owned and operated a furniture business for several years. She had a deep appreciation for antiques and enjoyed collecting them. Most of all, Modena cherished her family-especially her grandchildren, who loved spending time at her home and creating lasting memories with her. She was a faithful member of the Church of God in East Prairie, Missouri.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Bud) Hendrix, Pamela Jean Allred, and Sheila Burns; one sister, Linda Codgill; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with funeral services following, on Monday, December 29, 2025, at the Church of God in East Prairie, Missouri.
Burial will follow at East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery in East Prairie, Missouri.
Shelby Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

My mom's precious sister. So sorry for your loss my dear cousins and I'm so sorry I can't be there with you to celebrate her life. The flu has struck our family hard. My thoughts and prayers will be with each of you as you grieve the loss of a mother our hearts never quite heal from this loss. I love you all and I know you will overcome because each of us have that inner strength we recieved from our beloved mothers.

Brenda, Pam and Sheila, my heart goes out to you in the loss of your precious mother. Modena was a very kind and loving lady. I remember Grandma Morgan always wanting to go to her shop and she always left with some treasure she'd found. May God grant you comfort and peace. Love to you all, Debbie Cobb.
